Industrial manufacturer Eaton is making use of the easy800 control relay even easier and more convenient, by launching the new easyRemote display app. Available on the Android operating system (for versions 2.2-4), the app enables users to display all the text and functions of the easy800 control relay via a standard smartphone and operate it remotely. Communication between the smartphone and the control relay is via Bluetooth. The app enables users to communicate with the controller outside of the working area, thus not only increasing general user-friendliness but also enhancing safety. Regardless of the operation required, such as: the showing of display text, the changing of the operating mode, the setting of date and time, the changing of function block parameters, the checking of circuit diagrams or minor programming – the easyRemote display app makes all these functions possible. It enables users to control and operate several machines efficiently with a smartphone at a distance of up to 10m. Additionally, the display contrast of the app can be set and increased easily via its colour scheme, making the display clearly visible even in bright sunlight.

All easy800 control relays are equipped with a Bluetooth adapter (EASY800-BLT-ADP). Each Bluetooth adapter has a unique address and an eight-digit PIN that serves as the security code for communicating with the smartphone, thus preventing any unauthorised access.

Siemens Industry Automation Division introduces the Sitrans Connection Apple iOS communication application, designed for use with all Sitrans F US clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters. Sitrans Connection enables direct communication between an Apple iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) and any Sitrans F US clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter to enhance all metering functionalities, including programming, operational review, data logging and download.

The Sitrans Connection app provides greater mobility, making connectivity possible without the need for a laptop computer. The app also features full menu visibility and a complete alphanumeric keypad for easier navigation and programming, which is especially useful for meters with limited displays. In addition, Sitrans Connection provides Siemens technical experts with a live link to the meter for instant diagnostic review and programming, reducing the need for on-site service (Wi-Fi or cellular service required).

This robust easy to use handheld device takes and records temperature readings via the attached thermocouple probe. A large touch screen, color display indicates temperature, maximum and minimum readings and will produce a graph of the data. The OM-EL-ENVIROPAD-TC has two functions-Data Logging and Spot Measurement; 1. When in Data Logging mode, the unit can be set-up and left to take temperature readings at pre-determined intervals for a desired length of time. All readings are saved to a file with a date and time stamp in CSV format for up to 65,536 readings. 2. When in Spot Measurement mode the unit can be used as a thermometer to capture one-off temperature readings displayed on screen. This can be repeated for up to 65,536 readings per file. This data can then be downloaded to PC via a USB connection and opened with Microsoft Excel® or our EasyLog software which is available for free from omega.com. The unit is compatible with any J, K, N and T Type thermocouple probes. The protective boot can be removed for cleaning.
