Brooks Instrument continues to innovate its mass flow control solutions with the integration of the EtherCAT communication protocol with its GF40 and GF80 Series thermal mass flow controllers. EtherCAT, which has been adopted by leading-edge technology companies, makes it easier to network instrumentation for advanced process control and diagnostics capabilities.
EtherCAT (Ethernet for Control Automation Technology) is an open, high-performance ethernet-based fieldbus system designed for process control applications requiring short data update times with low communication “jitter.”
Other key benefits of EtherCAT include:
- High-speed, time-synchronized communication to optimize process control;
- Low implementation costs compared to other communication networks — no special master cards and cables required;
- More flexible topology supporting up to 65,535 nodes per segment for large scale installations; and
- Ease of use with auto configuration and location-specific diagnosis.

The Electrocorder from CAS DataLoggers range is designed to allow electrical distribution companies to cost effectively monitor single and three phase supplies. Our products allow voltage problems to be highlighted quickly for further investigation. The CT-2VA is designed to allow engineering staff to monitor single phase voltage and current.
Siemens Industry Automation Division has extended its range of single-phase power supplies: The Sitop smart product family has been expanded with three single-phase 24 V power supplies with rated output voltag s of 2.5 A, 5 A and 10 A as well as two 12 V power supplies with 7 A and 14 A. The output voltage of the new PSU100S power supplies is adjustable over a wide range from 24 to 28 V with the 24 V power supplies and from 12 to 15.5 V with the 12 V models. All devices can supply 1.5 times the rated current for five seconds per minute, to ensure problem-free starting for loads that draw a high current. The 24 V versions even supply 120 percent rated current at ambient temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius.
To keep ahead of trends within the automation industry, the Industrial Automation Group of Advantech has launched a new range of high density isolated DAQ cards that use the PCI Express interface. These three cards – PCIE-1752 (64 digital output channels), PCIE-1754 (64 digital input channels) and PCIE-1756 (32 digital input/32 digital output channels) - which have a faster data transfer rate than standard PCI cards, offer up to 64 channels, do not need special development software and have a maximum output current capacity of 500mA per channel.
Rotork Fairchild has launched a new range of compact high pressure pneumatic regulators for instrument and industrial control applications.
