Advantech’s Industrial Automation Group (IAG) is pleased to announce the launch of two new smart power meters for use in all kinds of electric power data acquisition. WISE-M500 series power meter are easy to use, cost effective smart meters, that provide high accuracy measurement , display and communication (Modbus/RTU). Characterized by a compact size, and flexible connection (1P2W,1P3W, 3P3W..).

The panel mounted WISE-501 is a 3-phase multi-function power meter for sub-metering applications, ranging from power distribution, small motor control to lighten load circuit. It measures 39 power parameters such as current(A), voltage(V), active power(KW), active energy(kwh), reactive energy(kvarh), and frequency values. The measurement data can be viewed directly from local large display, and also can be transmitted through an RS-485 port using the Modbus/RTU protocol.
In addition to the above features, both models support a host of features such as: the ability to monitor single and three phase circuits and use a time-of-use pricing service which adjusts the use and operation of the facility according to actual power usage and the electricity supplier tariff. In factories and buildings which use SCADA software, such as Advantech WebAccess, the WISE-M501 and WISE-M502 are able to transmit their data using the Modbus protocol and have their information viewed on remote displays.

NI, the provider of platform-based systems that enable engineers and scientists to solve the world’s greatest engineering challenges, announced today the NI PXIe-4081 7½-digit high-performance DMM and 1.8 MS/s isolated digitizer. The NI PXIe-4081 is the first PXI Express DMM available. It offers engineers the flexibility, resolution and isolation needed to tackle challenging applications that require smarter test systems in industries ranging from consumer electronics to aerospace and defense.

The NI PXIe-4081 is the industry’s most accurate 7½-digit DMM, with an industry-leading 15 ppm accuracy for DC voltage measurements up to two years after calibration. It is capable of voltage measurements from nanovolts to one kilovolt and resistance measurements from microohms to gigaohms. A solid-state current shunt configuration offers eight DC current ranges from 1 µA to 3 A and six AC rms current ranges from 100 µA to 3 A. The DMM occupies a single 3U PXI slot and provides excellent channel density for high-channel-count systems, delivering 17 DMM channels in a single PXI chassis occupying 4U of rack space. For high-throughput applications, the isolated digitizer mode can acquire DC-coupled waveforms in all voltage and current ranges with a 1.8 MS/s maximum sample rate. By changing the digitizer sampling rate, engineers can vary the resolution of the digitizer from 10 to 23 bits for the perfect combination of speed and accuracy.

Engineers can use an interactive soft front panel for basic measurements and debugging automated applications, which delivers all the ease-of-use expected from a traditional instrument. The driver software includes a best-in-class programming interface that works with a variety of development environments, such as C, Microsoft .NET and LabVIEW. The driver also features help files, documentation and 28 ready-to-run example programs to assist in test code development.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the global release on this date in all markets other than Japan* of ROTAMASS Total Insight (TI), a new portfolio of four-wire Coriolis mass flowmeters and transmitters. This new Coriolis mass flowmeter product platform was developed based on a Total Insight concept that seeks to optimize operations and reduce maintenance costs at all phases of the product lifecycle.

Of the two main types of flowmeters that are in use today - the volume flowmeter and the mass flowmeter - the latter is generally more accurate as its measurements are less susceptible to variations in temperature and pressure. Coriolis mass flowmeters are versatile and highly accurate instruments whose utility extends beyond mass flow, inline density, and temperature measurement. They have evolved into multi-functional devices that can measure concentrations, function as net oil computers (NOC), and even measure heat transport. 1. Introduction phase solution - Selection tool and expert guide
Yokogawa has developed a new tool that will assist our customers in selecting the optimal sensor and transmitter combination for specific applications. In addition, an online expert guide and a built-in configuration wizard are provided to ensure quick and error-free commissioning.
2. Operational phase solution - Process Guard function for event management
We have added a Process Guard function that can be used to select event patterns for the issuance of alarms, configure the triggering of data logging based on alarms or manually set points, and specify whether data is to be backed up to a microSD card for use in root cause analysis.
3. Post-implementation phase solution - Facilitating preventive maintenance and advanced flexibility
A Maintenance Manager function that includes Yokogawa's patented Tube Health Check technology monitors all key sensing elements while the flowmeter is in use, yielding data that can be used to minimize disruptions and thereby reduce maintenance costs. All data can be stored on a microSD card for easy data transfer. A new Feature On Demand (FOD) option is available that allows users to upgrade already installed flowmeters by adding new product functions such as the Tube Health Check and a concentration measurement function.

Manufacturers and equipment builders are looking for ways to simplify and standardize safety across their machines and systems. With the new Allen-Bradley Compact GuardLogix 5370 controller from Rockwell Automation, users no longer need separate networks and controllers for safety and motion in applications with up to 16 axes. This makes it easier to design safety into a wide range of standard and custom machines, and results in simpler system architectures.

“The new Compact GuardLogix 5370 controller has all the performance capabilities of our popular Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 5370 controller, while also providing integrated safety and motion on a single EtherNet/IP network,” said Ming Jing Ye, global product manager, Rockwell Automation. “When safety, motion and standard control are combined into one package, configuration is easier, wiring is reduced and users get better diagnostics. Ultimately, it helps increase machine uptime and plant productivity.”

The Compact GuardLogix 5370 controller also helps users meet global safety standards. It achieves Safety Integrity Level 3, Performance Level e and Category 4 – the highest ratings for machine safety. When used in combination with the Allen-Bradley Kinetix 5500 servo drive or the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 527 AC drive, users have integrated safe torque off on EtherNet/IP.

As with other Logix controllers, engineers use the Rockwell Software Studio 5000 software to configure the Compact GuardLogix 5370 controller and develop all elements of their control system. Data can be defined once, and then easily accessed and re-used across different machine types to speed system development and commissioning.

In addition, a single programming environment for both safety and standard control removes the need to manually manage separate standard and safety memory, or partition logic to isolate safety.

The Compact GuardLogix 5370 controller, being manufactured in Singapore, also includes dual Ethernet ports to support both linear and device-level-ring (DLR) network topologies. Built-in energy storage removes the need for batteries, and a removable 1-GB Secure Digital (SD) card improves data integrity.

Rockwell Automation also will be releasing an on-machine option later this year – the Allen-Bradley Armor Compact GuardLogix 5370 controller. This option allows users to place the controller closer to the application or onto the machine, which eases installation, commissioning and troubleshooting. The on-machine controller is IP67-rated for wash-down protection and includes quick-connect cabling to ease system wiring.
