Wahl Instruments announces new AOIP FD5 Line of data loggers

Wahl Instruments, Inc. announces the addition of the new AOIP FD5 Line of data loggers to its line of temperature and pressure products. With modern and flexible features, the FD5 series accommodates a wide variety of applications, including temperature monitoring. Equipped with 5, 10 and 15 universal synchronized channels, the new generation of fast (470 Hz / channel) and flexible modules can be used in the field as stand-alone system or on test benches. The FD5 Series uses a web server concept; all necessary configuration and management software are embedded into the unit itself for a plug-and-play design.

Easy-to-use, the web server interface allows real time and remote control of the data acquisition through any web browser; including setup, start, result display, monitoring, and data exportation functions. As stand-alone modules, FD5 series loggers have embedded flash memory that can be expanded with the SD card slot and USB drive slots. Connect up to two additional slave modules to extend the number of inputs available for maximum flexibility.

Endress+Hauser’s inventors celebrate new patent applications

Endress+Hauser’s inventors is celebrate new patent applications. Four innovations that improve product flexibility and reliability have been recognized with awards.

Endress+Hauser applied for 230 patents last year. More than 240 innovators from across the Group gathered at the 2013 Innovators' Meeting held at the 'Rhypark' hall in Basel, Switzerland, to introduce their developments and share their experiences with their colleagues. Four highly-successful patented solutions received awards. Three teams were also recognized for significantly improving business processes.

"Our capacity to innovate continues to grow. Since 2000, the number of patent applications has increased fourfold," says Michael Ziesemer, the Group's COO and deputy CEO. "The 230 filed patents in 2012 send a strong signal to our customers that we are growing with and for them." To recognize granted patents of particular commercial importance, four Patent Rights Incentive Awards, each worth 15,000 euros, were given to innovators from the production centers of Endress+Hauser Wetzer in Nesselwang, Germany, Endress+Hauser Flowtec in Reinach, Switzerland, Endress+Hauser in Maulburg, Germany, and Endress+Hauser Conducta in Waldheim, Germany. CEO Klaus Endress and COO Michael Ziesemer presented the award certificates and trophies.

Brooks Instrument introduces upgrades to GF 40/80 Series Thermal Mass Flow Controllers

Brooks Instrument, a world-leading provider of advanced flow, pressure, vacuum and level solutions, has expanded its GF 40/80 Series portfolio of thermal mass flow controllers. Broader capabilities, including increased flow rates up to 50 slpm and a “normally open” valve for non-hazardous gas applications, are ideal upgrades for users of Aera (Hitachi), Celerity, Tylan, Mykrolis, Millipore and Unit mass flow controllers, as well as other competitive devices.

The GF 40/80 Series leads the market in long-term zero stability at less than 0.5% per year. This specification means the device will return more reliable accuracy data for a longer period of time, giving users greater confidence in the numbers reported. The GF 40/80 Series is also available with Brooks’ patented MultiFlo™, a powerful technology that enables users to re-program the gas and/or range in minutes without the trouble and cost of removing the mass flow controller from service. Brooks has expanded the flow rates for the GF 40/80 Series from 30 slpm to 50 slpm, making these devices an excellent choice for applications that require a higher flow rate with the flexibility of a MultiFlo-capable mass flow controller.

Newly expanded RS485 communication protocols increase the flexibility and application range of the GF 40/80 Series. These versions of the RS485 protocols are ideal for users of Aera (Hitachi), Celerity, Tylan, Mykrolis, Millipore and Unit mass flow controllers, which are now part of the Brooks product line following its acquisition of Celerity Instrumentation in 2009. These end users can now upgrade to a device that offers better accuracy and repeatability while keeping the same communication protocols.

Siemens offers new Gas chromatograph with new operator panel and additional oven version

The Siemens Industry Automation Division is offering a new modular oven and a new operator panel with a color display for its Maxum Edition II gas chromatographs. Siemens is offering a small modular oven with space for an analysis module as well as a larger version designed for a combi-module or two small modules. This modular approach increases the average availability of the gas chromatograph, while at the same time reducing maintenance overhead and operating costs. The new operator panel has a large 10-inch color touch display, which makes it much easier to use the analyzer. It is backward compatible and can also be retrofitted to older systems.

The new graphical interface provides significantly improved and intuitive menu navigation. This makes it simple and transparent to operate the Maxum Edition II, especially with regard to routine tasks. For example, users can enter data more easily in large pop-up dialog boxes, and all frequently used functions can be reached directly by additional navigation points. Chromatograms are easy to edit using the touch screen. The new operating structure is based on the familiar menus of the previous black and white displays, so personnel trained on the Maxum Edition II can convert easily. As previously, the user can still also operate all analyzers connected within the network with no restrictions using the new operator panel. The touch screen is also certified for use in hazardous areas according to CSA Div. I and ATEX Zone 1.
